| Who is going? I'm planning to be there either Sunday or Monday in the afternoon as I'll be at the Sandown model railway exhibition in the morning. |

I plan to be there on at least one of the days. The last open day was good. Hopefully the weather won't be quite as hot this time! |

I agree about the 2008 Open Day. Having a spot for photographers on the sunny side was a great idea. |

And a big thanks to Steamrail for setting that up. Following the 2007 open day people suggested that it would be nice to have a photographic spot on the sunny side. The following year Steamrail listened |

| Please be aware that the ARHS Museum is closed to visitors during renovations being performed on the entranceway and fences. |

It was a good idea. But be warned, if anyone doesnt listen to the people protecting the crossing during the days eg walk over the line as the train comes up the yard, the photobox will be closed off with no hesitation. Last time a few people decided to do their own thing as the train was approaching, there will be no if buts or maybe's this year. |

A huge Congratulations to everyone and i mean Everyone who did something for this years open day.. You ought to be congratulated.. As a General member of the public your intention to do your job in what ever the weather gods threw at you was a credit to each and everyone of you.. I intended to spend 2 hours at newport on Monday. I spent 4.5 hours!! You had limited yard room with out having the Garden platform availiable. Yet you were still able to run a train up and down the ladder track. The workshop tour was informative. And Questions were well answered. Steve in the cab of 301 answered every question asked of him. And loving showing anyone who asked just how 301 worked.. The idea of having 301 and 313 back to back was great. A highlight been able to walk through both of them from cab to cab without touching the ground.. Thanks for a wounderfull day Guys.. You have just got at least one new membership. Anyway enough of my rant.. Here are some photos for those of you who couldnt make it on 1 of the 2 days.. Pleanty more photos but too many to add here..
T395 and k190 head past D3639
K190 smokes it up for the camera
R707 heads up for the photo shoot with R711
R707 and R761 side by side

Went there on Monday. I only intended to spend a couple of hours, but ended up hanging around for almost 5 hours.
Pity about the lack of anything in the garden platform, but there was still plenty of action in the rest of the yard. Despite the rather average weather I still took plenty of photos.
Thanks to those involved in running the open day. Hope to see it again in the future. |
